Te Akau School is fortunate to have two bus routes. The Te Akau Bus, owned by the school and managed by the Board of Trustees, serves our local students, while Go Bus provides transport for those in the Ruakiwi and Te Akau South areas.
For more information on our bus routes, please contact the office at office@teakau.school.nz.
In 2008, the Ministry of Education discontinued public funding for the school bus service through Waimai and Matira Valleys. Thanks to the dedicated efforts and contributions from landowners and community members, the Board of Trustees has continued to operate this service. The annual cost of providing the bus is approximately $25,000, which is funded through a combination of PTA fundraising and generous long-term sponsorships from local businesses. The continuation of this service relies on the ongoing support and goodwill of all involved, reflecting its significance to our school community. If you’re new to the district or have a child using the bus, please reach out to a Board of Trustees member to learn more about how you can contribute.
Te Akau School deeply appreciates our sponsors' support in helping us maintain our school-owned bus. Your contributions ensure our students have safe, reliable transportation to school and to various educational activities.
Thanks to your support, our school community is stronger, and our students have greater opportunities to succeed. We are grateful for your belief in our vision and for being an essential part of our journey!
