Te Akau School is fortunate to have two bus routes supporting our students. The Te Akau Bus, owned and operated by the Board of Trustees, services our local area, while Go Bus provides transport for students travelling from the Ruakiwi and Te Akau South districts.
For more information about our bus routes, please contact the school office at office@teakau.school.nz.
In 2008, the Ministry of Education discontinued funding for the school bus service through the Waimai and Matira Valleys. Thanks to the ongoing dedication of local landowners and community members, the Board of Trustees has continued to provide this essential service. The annual cost of operating the bus is approximately $35,000, funded through a combination of Board support and the generous long-term sponsorship of local businesses and families.
A special thank you to our long-standing sponsors who continue to stand by us year after year:
Te Akau Transport
Te Akau Racing
Hinemoa Produce
Waikorea Quarry
Peter Glidden Honda
We also warmly welcome and thank our new sponsors for 2026:
Andrew Culley

James Jackson & Mich Kooij
On Road Transport – Don
AC & MA Crawford Partnership
The continuation of this service relies heavily on the goodwill and support of our community, highlighting just how important it is to our students and families. If you are new to the district or have a child using the bus, we encourage you to connect with a Board of Trustees member to learn more about how you can contribute.
Te Akau School sincerely appreciates the support of our sponsors in helping us maintain our school-owned bus. Your contributions ensure our students have safe, reliable transport to and from school, as well as access to valuable learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
Thanks to your support, our school community is stronger, and our students have greater opportunities to thrive. We are truly grateful for your commitment and for being an important part of our journey.
